Our story
This arts writing scholarship is dedicated in the loving memory of this scholarship's creator, Evan Snow's friend and mentor Lauren Perlstein ("LP").
LP was an arts and culture blogger whose work covered and supported the South Florida music scene. Through her SFMO blog she brought awareness to various emerging and established musical acts, helping them gain notoriety, popularity, and support. Through her love of writing, she became an advocate for the local arts and music scenes while inspiring others in various ways.
LP also worked to manage her fiancé’s musical duo named “Bedside.” Through this connection, Snow and LP were introduced as he inevitably became their biggest fan. As Snow was transitioning out of the corporate world as a recruiter, LP’s mentorship guided Snow’s journey through his own arts and culture blogging- eventually leading to creative entrepreneurship and the work he does today with Zero Empty Spaces.
Unfortunately LP's life was cut short, which led Snow to feel called to honor her legacy by launching an arts writing scholarship to support an aspiring arts writer with the same passion and drive for advocating for the arts through literature that they both shared.
