Our story
My beloved grandmother, Ella Hall-Dillon, is the inspiration for this fund. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, WI, she had very little material possessions. Even with her limited education, she was able to provide all that her twelve children needed. She instilled the values of hard work. She would always say, “If you’re going to do something, do it well or don’t do it at all.”
When her children arrived in the US and had children of their own, she continued to provide unrelenting support and encouragement to them.
Her grandchildren were able to accomplish great things and become the first generation Americans and college graduates.
Without her dedication, unrelenting support and perseverance, I would not be who I am today. I am eternally grateful and indebted to her.
We are all here because of the love and sacrifice of those who came before us.
Our goal
Help first-generation students of the African diaspora, like myself, achieve their educational goals. This helps further the legacy of those who paved the way for our opportunities!
