Our story
“The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” —Dr. Seuss
An educator's role is to teach others to be curious, question and gather facts to make informed decisions, and use knowledge to make thoughtful, informed choices. A solid educational foundation gives people opportunities and opens up the world around them. Newfound skills and knowledge allow people to develop, grow, and positively impact and challenge others around them.
Joseph and Loretta Leone live their life as true educators. They raised my sister and me to value education and instilled the desire to learn inside and outside a classroom. Both Joseph and Loretta put themselves through college and went on to earn advanced degrees focused on education. Today, they continue to practice what they preach by learning new technology, traveling to acquire knowledge of other cultures, and striving to help others within their community and circle of influence.
Our goal
The Education Empowerment scholarship is designed to promote education and empower an ELL/ESL high school senior to advance their learning. An Education Empowerment scholar embodies four key values
1. Resilience: Overcome obstacles or barriers to achieve a goal.
2. Perseverance: Never give up and work hard to achieve your goal.
3. Open-mindedness: Intellectual Curiosity and critical thinking skills.
4. Altruistic: Giving back to others, enriching your community.
The scholarship's mission is to assist ELL/ESL students in continuing their education financially and empower them to continue learning and supporting their individual and community-driven goals. This scholarship is designed specifically to support an ELL/ESL high school senior and give them an opportunity to advance their education.
