Our story
Dr. Cherie Labat was most passionate about 3 things in her 20+ year career; family, community, and students. Throughout her career, Dr. Labat led and volunteered on over 60 organizations, committees, and councils. A major staple in her career was single-handedly keeping Critical Race Theory in the Mississippi school system and guiding other schools and educators to do the same. Unfortunately, Dr. Cherie’s efforts would be hindered when she fell ill in late 2023. She would later succumb to her illness on January 9th, 2024 at the age of 48. We wish to preserve her legacy through the current and next generation of educators, policymakers, healthcare providers, and public service members.
Our goal
We aim to raise $1,000 for a deserving Black woman in undergraduate or graduate degree programs. We wish to pass the flame of Dr. Labat’s legacy onto women who will be the pillars of their communities through education, healthcare, policy, and public service. With your help, we can illuminate a brighter future for the world. Thank you for your consideration and for keeping Dr. Labat’s legacy alive through sharing, donating, and prayers for her family, friends, and colleagues.
