Our goal

The Cacatian Family Scholarship Fund was created to honor the lives and legacies of two remarkable individuals who dedicated themselves to uplifting their communities: Jeremieh C. Soroten and Raymond M. Higa. Both were proud sons of Hawai‘i who believed in the power of education to transform lives and create lasting opportunity. In their memory, this fund seeks to support the dreams of Hawai‘i high school seniors as they pursue higher education. Growing up and living in Hawai‘i, we’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges local students face when trying to access and afford college. Our family has always believed that no student should be held back from pursuing their potential due to financial barriers. This fund is a way for us to give back to our island community, and to continue the spirit of generosity, resilience, and hope that Jeremieh and Raymond exemplified. The goal of the Cacatian Family Scholarship Fund is to manage and raise donations for two dedicated scholarships: The Jeremieh C. Soroten Memorial Scholarship The Raymond M. Higa Memorial Scholarship Both scholarships are exclusively for high school seniors in Hawai‘i and are aimed at helping them take the next step in their academic journeys. Whether they are heading to a university, community college, or trade school, these scholarships are intended to lessen the financial burden and open more doors for our youth. By partnering with Bold.org, we hope to reach a wider network of donors who believe in the power of local impact and the importance of education. Every dollar raised will go directly to supporting these two scholarships, and by extension, the students who will carry forward the legacies of Jeremieh and Raymond through their own stories of perseverance and success.
