Mission

In memory of Sammy Meckley, this scholarship supports graduating high school juniors or seniors who are active participants in extracurricular activities. Sammy graduated from Bowie High in 1998 where he created many happy memories performing on the cheerleading squad and in Bowie High School Musicals such as Guys and Dolls and Grease. Sammy will be remembered for his sweet nature, his love of dancing and cooking as well as his artistic and athletic talents.

    Dear Sammy Meckley, Memorial Scholarship Foundation, My name is Hope Kennedy and I’m honored to be one of this year’s finalists of the Sammy Meckley Memorial Scholarship. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in funding the Sammy Meckley Memorial Scholarship. My dedication and passion for criminal justice and legal studies have allowed me to achieve a GPA of 3.5. In addition to my academic pursuits, I’m actively involved in student government, voices for Impact, and various outreach programs in my community. After my scheduled graduation in May 2025, I plan to pursue a career as a crime scene lab technician in order to work directly in my community and make an impact.
