As a low-income, first-generation student, I was hesitant to choose a large, prestigious university like UT Austin. I was worried I wasn't going to have enough funds to cover my expenses and that I would have a hard time navigating college life. While both of these things remain true I am now able to take some stress off my education costs thanks to gracious donors like you. Since I have to provide for myself, I must work many hours to afford my tuition and housing expenses. This scholarship provides me a chance to cut back on some work hours and spend more time focusing on my academics. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have more time to invest in my future success and I stand by the values this scholarship emphasizes. As low income students, we must rise above the generational curses that have set us back and work hard to provide for for future generations. Thank you for your investment in my future and success.
